Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the benefits of football scholarship with community service. First, his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children in a Eufala farm. In football, he played alongside three brothers for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. The three years he was the team's starter, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975. He was also designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering throughout his time at college. After college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine years for the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. After that, he began his career. The first position he held was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young people in America. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He captained his college team in 1975. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized his on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
