Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, was raised in Wellington) is an Canadian actress from Canada. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's father, was first seen on stage in the role of Flora McGrath. For this part, she was awarded an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of eleven. She was the second youngest recipient in Oscar History. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born July 24th 1982 at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian birthed New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won an Academy Award for best support actress. Her role as the enthusiastic and lively young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) earned her the prize. After she responded to an audition call, she won the role as Flora McGrath, the daughter of a deaf Scottish pianist who relocates to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to be married. It was her first role at the age of nine and had no prior experience in acting. As a teenager her family relocated to the United States. Paquin played Jane Eyre's main character when she was a teenager in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) and the main role for the character in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the television film adaptation Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin played the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 movie Amistad. The role she played was for teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also played the role of a teen girl named Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
