Reese Witherspoon

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born March 22, 1976. Her numerous accolades include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. She was also awarded two Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine and Forbes both listed her as one of the 100 most influential people across the globe in 2005 and in 2006, respectively. In 2021, Forbes named her the highest-paid actress in the world, with an estimated total worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her acting career as a teenager, making her debut on screen with The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, she was an actress who played a supporting role in Cruel Intentions as well as in the role of Tracy Flick in Election. Elle Woods, a comedy comedy (2001), and its sequel in 2003, earned her more recognition. She also starred in Sweet Home Alabama (2002) and Sweet Home Alabama, a romantic comedy. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a slump in her career where her sole box-office achievement was the romantic drama Water for Elephants (2011), Witherspoon made a comeback by directing and producing Cheryl Strayed in the drama Wild (2014) in which she resulted in her being nominated for a second time for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. She has since primarily worked in the field of television, producing and starring in several female-led adaptations of literary works under her company Hello Sunshine. This includes the HBO drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019), The Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show (2019-present), and the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the first episode of the series. She also co-produced the films Gone Girl (2014), and Where the Crawdads Sing (222). She is on the board of the Children's Defense Fund and was honoured to be the chairperson of the Avon Foundation's foundation's charitable cause for women in 2007.
